In a world where natural resources are becoming increasingly scarce, NTN Europe is actively committed to reducing its ecological footprint, placing responsible water management at the heart of its environmental priorities. This commitment reflects our desire to reconcile industrial performance and resource conservation, in line with our raison d'être: ‘Make the world Nameraka’.
Structured and certified water management
As part of its CSR strategy, NTN Europe makes it a point of honour to optimise water management. Our ISO 14001 certified industrial sites integrate rigorous environmental management standards, promoting a sustainable reduction in the use of natural resources.
Practices include:
- Optimisation of circuits: reduction of leaks and increased efficiency.
- Use of technological innovations: adoption of water- and energy-saving equipment, and improvement of our water metering plans.
- Implementation of a drought alert level
- Mapping of the water meters on the sites: to monitor the water consumption of each site and implement specific actions.
- Creation of a specialised H2o business group that develops a framework of actions to be implemented to achieve the group's objectives.
- Appointment of a ‘Water’ business referent at each production site, thus guaranteeing the effective implementation of the actions to be carried out.
This proactive and coordinated approach aims to ensure sustainable water use and strengthen NTN Europe's commitment to the preservation of natural resources.

Reduction of water consumption: quantified efforts and concrete results

Water consumption at NTN Europe
In 2023, NTN Europe achieved a water consumption of 0.54 m³ per k€ of added value, compared to 0.64 in 2022 and 0.60 in 2021. This continuous reduction is based on a structured approach to resource management.
Among the noteworthy initiatives, quarterly monitoring of water consumption makes it possible to accurately measure the progress made and identify levers for improvement. At the end of the second quarter of 2024, a reduction of 11% compared to the same period in 2023 was recorded, demonstrating increased efficiency in our processes.
A flagship project: the modernisation of cooling water production
The project to modernise the cooling systems in Building 1 at the Argonay site embodies NTN Europe's commitment to reducing its water consumption. By replacing the Cooling Towers (TAR) with a new cooling unit equipped with advanced technologies such as free cooling and heat recovery, this project not only limits water withdrawals by 990 m³ per year but also improves energy efficiency.
This project is part of an overall approach aimed at achieving carbon neutrality by 2035.

Towards a global and sustainable vision to achieve carbon neutrality
Water management is an essential lever in our environmental ambition, which also includes the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. By reducing water needs, we reduce the energy required for its treatment, thus supporting our decarbonisation objectives. This proactive approach also responds to the challenges of recurrent droughts, with water conservation plans adapted to different alert levels.

Every drop saved and every cycle optimised contributes to a future where harmony between technological progress and respect for the planet is a reality. NTN Europe shows that sustainable development is possible in demanding industrial environments, while helping to preserve water, that vital common good.
With initiatives such as the modernisation project at the Argonay site and rigorous management of our resources, we are affirming our role in building a more fluid, sustainable and harmonious world. At NTN Europe, every action counts in shaping a responsible future.
